“Moving” is a word that Mischa used all the time - about his situation and about his feeling for what Kids Helping Kids needed to be about...moving, mobility, getting back into life.

Moving from the hospital or rehab hospital to home is an enormous step. As a kid who has spent months and months in the lonely separateness of illness, moving back into life can be terrifying at the same time it is filled with hope. You want to see your friends and be back with your family, but what if you can’t keep up? What if the toll your illness or injury has taken is so great, that you move differently, even a little weirdly in the eyes of others?

Our goal is to raise the funds and awareness to help teens move back into their lives with more ease, with a little help from friends who understand. So if it’s a wheelchair that insurance won’t cover or a ramp that is unaffordable, we’re there to help make the transition with fewer bumps.

Moving is also a word that means emotionally touching. And of course, our hearts are moved by the kids we can help and by the volunteers who do the most amazing things to help when they could be text messaging their friends or hanging out at the mall.

As Kids Helping Kids continues to move toward fulfilling its mission that no child be forgotten, we will never forget who and what inspires this organization’s every act of kindness.
