It’s an exciting time at Kids Helping Kids. Thanks to the hard work of all our volunteers and the continued help of our all our supporters, we have realized Mischa’s vision of establishing a place for teens and their friends and families to hang out and to learn to be together again after experiencing a life altering illness or injury; a pleasant environment in which to share experiences, watch movies, play video games or chess, or to listen to music.
We are thrilled that the new Children’s Specialized Hospital building is now complete and the Kids Helping Kids Teen Lounge is in full swing.

Recently, the Lawrenceville chapter of Kids Helping Kids organized a hip-hop concert featuring Theophilus London that raised nearly 10,000 dollars! Money was raised via admission tickets as well as through raffle tickets to meet and greet London. A number of people the in the community helped bring about the concert through generous pricing and donations of equipment, time, and assistance.

Our Youth Board members and the Lawrenceville Kids Helping Kids Club visited the new teen lounge and were quite impressed with the design of the facility and the state-of-the-art equipment. They came away feeling even more inspired to continue Mischa’s mission and are busy planning the next Annual Gala, as well as rallying their peers to organize their own independent events and fundraisers.

In support of the Teen Lounge, Kids Helping Kids volunteers have continued to do an incredible job raising awareness and funds. Here are just some of the social entrepreneurial projects and events held recently for Kids Helping Kids:
•The Youth Board organized the first annual Kids Helping Kids Gala and Volunteer Appreciation Event
•The Youth Board, along with the Kids Helping Kids Club at Montclair High School, held a Harry Potter Chess Event at the Mischa/Kids Helping Kids Site
at Watchung Plaza.

•The Montclair High School’s

Kids Helping Kids Club

and teen patients at Children’s

Specialized created holiday

cards and bracelets that were

sold at local shops.

•The Bradford School in Montclair held a Walk-a-thon.

•An independent group of fifth graders from the Byrd School in Glen Rock, New Jersey sold their arts and crafts creations at their school’s Holiday Shop to benefit Kids Helping Kids.

•The Cookie Corp. at the Hillside School in Montclair voted to donate the proceeds from their sales to Kids Helping Kids.

•The NJ Devils Sled Hockey team (Mischa’s team) held their third annual sled hockey benefit game for Mischa and Kids Helping Kids.

The funds raised by the youth volunteers and contributions from our other donors have allowed Kids Helping Kids to:

• Pay our third installment of $10,000 towards our $50,000 pledge to Children’s Specialized Hospital for the Kids Helping Kids Teen Lounge.

• Purchase a new computer system for the teen program at Beth Israel in downtown New York City.

• Supply numerous teens with specialized mobility equipment.

Kids Helping Kids continues its commitment to raising funds for these and other requests from individual teens, hospitals and teen rehab programs around the country.

In keeping with Mischa’s vision for the future, we remain committed to helping teens and their friends and families cope with the complex and difficult task of providing a smooth transition back to life and community after a catastrophic illness or injury.
