HOSPITAL VISITS Often, kids in the hospital spend hours with nothing to do, cut off from their friends and the rest of the world. Not only are they in pain and afraid, but they have long stretches of time to dwell in their fear and loneliness. Visits are always welcome and appreciated, especially from people their own age. Our volunteers have been visiting kids in the hospital regularly for years and have found it to be a wonderfully uplifting experience for everyone involved. We encourage you to think a lot about visiting kids in the hospital, if this sparks your interest. It is rewarding but must be approached with great seriousness and compassion. When you’re ready, there are a number of steps to be taken. We have an entire section of our KHK Guide (click here), devoted to this topic. What to do when you get there? Let the person you’re visiting be your guide! But it’s really simple. You can talk, listen to music, play games, watch movies, etc. You can do holiday themed projects such as making Valentines or coloring pumpkins for Halloween.
